WV10 Consortium is a partnership founded upon generous leadership, empowering grassroots community groups to work together to secure funds that deliver services and support that improves the quality of life, health and wellbeing of local people.
The Consortium was officially established in 2017, but originated from the formation of the Scotland & Bushbury Hill Local Partnership that was formed in 2010.
We were created to make sure our area could bid for projects that traditionally would have gone to larger organisations from outside of the City and who would take 20%+ of the money in management fees. It was felt that there was no local understanding and connection, so the decision was made to compete with these organisations through WV10, an approach that has proved effective with nearly £3m secured during the last four years alone.
The WV10 Consortium comprises:

- Bushbury Hill Community Action Group
- Big Local Venture Centre
- SBH Partnership
- Stratton Street Methodist Church Community Centre
- Park Village Education Centre
- Women & Families Resource Centre
All of these community groups and social enterprises have one thing in common…they are run by local people to support local people.
How we work?
The seven organisations behind WV10 are the main delivery partners and responsible for running a host of programmes and community-run centres, including Big Venture Centre, Stratton Street, Park Village, Bushbury Buddies and Life after the Food Bank.
They collectively represent the interests of local people, working with partners from the wider Wolverhampton community, such as Citizens Advice, Wolverhampton City Council and Wolverhampton City Credit Union, to attract funding and ensure services meet local needs now and into the future.
Who do we help?
Anyone living in WV10, who needs support with their health, wellbeing, getting a job and managing their finances.
We are also there for families who need support of any kind, with activities in place for both the young and the older generations.
WV10 is all about promoting ‘community’ and making sure individuals are not isolated and instead encouraged to take a positive approach to local life.
Why is WV10 needed?
The WV10 area of Wolverhampton is one of high deprivation, covering some of the most deprived and most densely populated areas of the City.
There are major issues around income, employment, education and income deprivation affecting children, young people and the older generation.
Despite these challenges, WV10 still has a lot to offer and there is a real sense of local pride and a desire to make a difference, using ‘lived experience’ to address local problems quickly and effectively.
What makes us different?
Over 100 volunteers regularly give up their time to make the seven organisations and WV10 Consortium a major success.
These people have lived through a lot of the challenges the area is facing and now want to give something back to ensure we have access to funding, support and advice that will make a real difference to people living here.
By adopting this approach, WV10 is generating in excess of £1.5m social value per year through their network of volunteers and community-run spaces, with 90% of cash funds ring-fenced to deliver front line services.
