In response to the ongoing rises in the cost of living, Big Venture Centre launched a new Community Shop in June designed to help hundreds of people across WV10 access affordable food.

Officially opened by Wolverhampton Council Leader Ian Brookfield, the essential facility offers members the chance to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, tinned products, savoury snacks and toiletries at a much-reduced rate.

Individuals can join for just £5 per year and will immediately receive a free bag of shopping and then the ability to use the shop whenever they need it.

The aim is to ensure an average family of four can feed themselves for between £30 and £40 per week thanks to the support of Wolverhampton City Council, the Wolves Foundation, His Church and the donations of surplus items from Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer, Aldi and Lidl.

Just a few months on from the opening and there are more than 500 members registered. 

The Community Shop is open 9.30am – 2.30pm Monday through to Thursday, last night Wednesdays and 9.30am to 12.30pm on Fridays.
